Borowicz Receives Four High-Profile Committee Assignments
January 18, 2019
HARRISBURG – This week, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Centre/Clinton) received her House committee assignments for the 2019-20 legislative session.
Borowicz, who was sworn in earlier this month to begin her first term representing the people of the 76th District, was selected to serve on the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Health, Human Services, and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees.
“I could not be more pleased with each of my committee assignments, and I am very excited to address the top priority issues that affect our honored veterans, farmers, emergency responders, children, families and the unborn,” said Borowicz. “Most importantly, I will have the opportunity to advocate for some of the most important public policy concerns that are directly impacting the people of the 76th Legislative District.”
The Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee deals with a variety of legislation directly impacting the state’s farmers and farming operations, timber industry, food safety and restaurant inspections, and the administration of state-funded programs to promote agriculture in Pennsylvania.
The House Health Committee deals with issues such as abortion, disease management, health savings accounts, hospital-acquired infections, Medical Assistance, patient safety, pharmaceutical issues, telemedicine, welfare reform and much more.
The House Human Services Committee has oversight of issues within the Department of Human Services and the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, most notably, advancing legislation to address Pennsylvania’s ever-increasing heroin and opioid addiction epidemic.
The Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee focuses on the needs of Pennsylvania’s first responders and veteran community, as well as works to keep all Commonwealth residents safe.
“I specifically asked leadership to consider appointing me to the Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness committees so that I would have the opportunity to help make sure our highly valued farmers, veterans and volunteer first responders are all treated fairly and receive the critical support they need to fulfill their day to day responsibilities,” said Borowicz. “My decisions on both the Health and Human Services committees will always be firmly grounded on the side of protecting and preserving the sanctity of all human life. I am very thankful that each of my requests have been granted.”
