LOCK HAVEN – Rep. Stephanie Borowicz today announced that on Sun., July 2, there will be a ceremony designating the bridge carrying PA Route 150 (Eagle Valley Road) over Bald Eagle Creek, in Bald Eagle Township, Clinton County, as the Colonel Henry Bossert Memorial Bridge.
“The Bossert family and I invite and encourage the public and media to attend the July 2 ceremony, which will be held at the Bald Eagle Boat Ramp at 3 p.m.,” Borowicz said. “Among his many battles and achievements, Bossert's calmness and bravery at the Battle of Antietam in the face of harsh combat and adversity in particular was critical to the Union's strategic victory on that day.”
During the Civil War, Colonel Bossert commanded the 11th PA Infantry Regiment, the 137th PA Infantry Regiment, the 1st Brigade, 2nd Division, 6th Army Corps of the Army of the Potomac and the 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 1st Army Corps of the Army of the Potomac.
“Col. Bossert is an American hero who stood firm at the most tumultuous time in our nation’s history, Pennsylvania and the nation will always be grateful for his leadership and sacrifice in the Civil War,” Borowicz said.
