LOCK HAVEN – State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Centre/Clinton) announced today that 24 volunteer fire and ambulance companies throughout the 76th District have qualified to receive approximately $275,204 from a grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“We need to do all we can to support our emergency responders and I’m grateful this grant program exists to defray some of the costs they incur while providing lifesaving services to our communities,” said Borowicz. “As a member of the House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee, I am pleased to see this funding returning to our area in a way that benefits and helps to protect every person in the 76th District.”

Following is a list of local fire and ambulance companies and the amount of their grant awards:

Centre County
• Howard Volunteer Fire Company #1 Inc., $14,248.
• Miles Township Fire Company, $11,646.
• Mountaintop Fire Company, $11,920.

• Dunnstown Fire Company, $13,289.
• Goodwill Hose Company Ambulance Association, $8,549.

• Hand In Hand Hose Company, $13,152.
• Haneyville Volunteer Fire Company, $11,509.

All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

The 76th Legislative District includes all of Clinton County and the Centre County communities of Benner, Boggs, Burnside, Curtin, Haines, Howard, Liberty, Marion, Miles, Snow Shoe and Union townships and the boroughs of Howard, Milesburg, Snow Shoe and Unionville.
