HARRISBURG – State Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Centre/Clinton) announced today that she has successfully secured a $125,000 Local Municipal Relief grant from the PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to assist Mountaintop Regional Water Authority in restoring safe and clean drinking water to about 1,300 homes and businesses in Burnside Township, Snow Shoe Township, Snow Shoe Borough and surrounding areas.
“Access to safe, clean and reliable drinking water is a necessity that far too many Americans take for granted until service is interrupted,” said Borowicz. “I could not be more pleased to confirm that a solution is finally in the works to help address the water crisis that has been impacting thousands of 76th district residents for more than a decade.”
The funding will be used by Mountaintop Regional Water Authority for the purchase of a replacement emergency pump.
“Securing this funding is another direct result of community leaders, regional state lawmakers and House Republican leadership, which includes House Majority Whip Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), working together to cost-effectively maintain and upgrade our local water infrastructure,” concluded Borowicz.
The 76th Legislative District includes all of Clinton County and the Centre County communities of Benner, Boggs, Burnside, Curtin, Haines, Howard, Liberty, Marion, Miles, Snow Shoe and Union townships and the boroughs of Howard, Milesburg, Snow Shoe and Unionville.
