Local Highway to be Renamed in Honor of Vietnam Veterans

July 9, 2019

MILESBURG – On Wednesday, July 17, Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Centre/Clinton) will host a dedication and sign unveiling ceremony designating a section of State Route 192, from the intersection with State Route 477 in Miles Township to the intersection with State Route 144 in Centre Hall Borough, as the Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Veterans Memorial Highway.

Beginning at 10 a.m, the highway dedication will be held at the Centre Hall Lions Club, 153 E. Church St., Centre Hall, PA 16828.

“Special thanks to Mike Hanna Sr., for originally sponsoring and advancing this highway renaming legislation into law,” said Borowicz. “The new highway signs will be placed to serve as lasting reminders to honor America’s military heritage, our nation’s freedom, and especially, our honored Vietnam veterans who paid such a high price in defense of our individual liberties. I am proud to see this highway being dedicated in honor of them.”

David Dimmick, U.S. Air Force veteran and Pennsylvania Air National Guard 112th Tactical Control Squadron, State College, will be the featured speaker. In addition to Borowicz and Hanna, scheduled speakers will include Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) and Sen. Jake Corman (R-Centre/Mifflin/Juniata/Huntingdon).

Seating is limited. Local veterans interested in attending should contact Borowicz’s Milesburg district office at 814-353-8780 by July 15 to register or for more information.
