Borowicz, Benninghoff to Host REAL ID Event on May 29

May 15, 2019

LOCK HAVEN – Rep. Stephanie Borowicz (R-Centre/Clinton) will be co-hosting a REAL ID informational event with Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) on Wednesday, May 29, at 6:30 p.m. at Bald Eagle Area High School LGI (Large Group Instruction) room, 710 S. Eagle Valley Road, Wingate.

“REAL IDs are now available to Pennsylvanians who want them,” said Borowicz.
“This FREE event is a great opportunity for residents who are interested in a REAL ID to get more information about the program, weigh their options and make an informed decision if REAL ID is right for them.”

Residents who wish to learn more about the REAL ID program or who have questions regarding the program are encouraged to attend. The event will include an informational presentation by representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

As of now, enforcement of the REAL ID Act will begin on Oct. 1, 2020, meaning Pennsylvanians will need a REAL ID-compliant license, identification card or an acceptable alternative identification as approved by the Transportation Security Administration (such as a passport) to board domestic commercial flights or enter center federal facilities.

“Our district offices are hearing from many residents about the frustration they experienced when trying to obtain a REAL ID,” said Benninghoff. “As the process is new for everyone, we decided to host this event to clear up any confusion and give people the opportunity to make sure they have the documents they need before spending hours at the DMV – only to find out the documents they have are insufficient.”

Please be aware that there will be no REAL IDs issued at this event, nor will any documents be pre-verified. All documents will need to be taken to the DMV for processing.

Those who wish to attend can register by calling Borowicz’s Milesburg district office at 814-353-8780 by May 27.
